Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity held a home dedication ceremony for the Herring family in Southport on February 27. The ceremony marks the completion of the family’s journey to homeownership. The dedication ceremony featured remarks from Habitat representatives, community leaders, and the partner family as well as a presentation and home blessing.
“The path to owning a Habitat for Humanity home is not an easy one and the Herring family was no exception, facing homelessness and uncertainty at the start of the journey,” said Theresa Murphy, Development Manager of Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity. “Our partner families spend more than 18 months working on their personal finances, learning about home ownership and physically putting sweat equity into building their home.”
“This home represents not just safety, joy, and stability, but the dedication the Herring family has shown to creating a better life. We are grateful to our many community partners and donors. This milestone would not have been possible without their generosity and support.”
