Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity raises record-breaking $47,000 at Annual Golf Tournament

Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity raised more than $47,000 at its annual golf tournament on Sept. 25, setting a new fundraising record for the event. The sold-out tournament, held at Thistle Golf Club, hosted nearly 200 golfers to support the nonprofit’s mission of building affordable homes.

“Seeing our community come together and raise a record amount is a powerful statement about Brunswick County’s commitment to making sure everyone has a decent, safe, affordable

place to call home.” said Theresa Murphy, Development Manager for Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity. “Everyone who supported this event directly invested in our community, and the funds raised will translate into lumber, foundations, and roofing, putting more Brunswick County families on a path to the stability and security of homeownership.”

First place was awarded to the following teams: Hagood Homes, Azalea Roofing and Mansfield Sales & Services. In second place were the McDonald Team, the Troxler Team and the Cheek Team. The 50/50 raffle winner was George Ouelette, who donated $1,000 of his prize back to the organization.

All funds raised will directly benefit BCHFH’s mission to build homes, communities and hope in Brunswick County.

“We are endlessly grateful for all our event sponsors and golfers, Thistle Golf Club for its outstanding hospitality, and the dedicated volunteers who ensured the tournament ran smoothly,” said Murphy.
